Drag Event Shortlisted for Award

Culture Perth and Kinross have announced that Drag Takeover: Kings, Queens, and Unicorns has been nominated for The Best Public Sector event at The Scottish Events Awards.

The event which took place in summer 2024 at Perth Museum, was headlined by Ru Paul’s Drag Race star, Ellie Diamond and featured drag kings and queens, Dorian T Fisk, Lavish McTavish, Ajax Off, Norman Fahquer esq, and Chanel O’Conor. 

Drag Takeover: Kings, Queens, and Unicorns was a bold fusion of performance art, queer storytelling, and museum interpretation, designed to celebrate LGBTQ+ identities while positioning the museum as an inclusive, vibrant space. 

The event featured drag performances both on and off stage where artists moved among the audience, creating an intimate, cabaret-style atmosphere, drag-led museum tours where objects were reinterpreted in a playful unexpected way to more relaxed events such as drag bingo and make-up tutorials.
