Once Upon a Time in the Muirton

Developed and curated by Muirton’s community in collaboration with Perth Museum.

Once Upon a Time in the Muirton has expanded to become an online exhibition, creating access to memories of the Muirton neighbourhood of Perth to more people than ever before. Much of the original Muirton housing no longer exists, but its memory is preserved through the stories and objects tied to the community.

On this page, you will find short clips from an exciting new documentary produced by local filmmaker David Gillan in partnership with the ‘Once Upon a Time in the Muirton’ podcast team, as well as tales, images and stories that have been directly contributed by people who lived in Muirton.

This online exhibition was designed to complement a display at North Inch Community Library in 2022, and subsequent community work informed the displays at Perth Museum, which opened in 2024.
