As part of our Lessons of the Hour exhibition, drop in and meet Frederick Douglass as he brings his remarkable story to life.
Frederick Douglass was an African American abolitionist. Born into slavery in Maryland, USA, in 1818, he escaped from slavery in 1838 and went on to become one of the most influential voices for justice and equality of the 19th Century. An acclaimed writer, speaker and reformer, he travelled extensively across the United States and Europe, campaigning against slavery and advocating for social change.
In this informal, roving museum encounter, discover why Frederick Douglass visited Perth, learn more about his extraordinary life and explore how his message of freedom, equality and human rights continues to resonate today.
